The Adult FATWHEELS Kit is designed for most 16-inch to 20-inch bicycles and supports riders weighing up to 250 lbs. It can work with coaster-brake and multi-speed bicycles as well as bikes with quick-release rear wheels.

What's the difference between training wheels and a tricycle conversion?

Small HD training wheels retain the basic configuration of a conventional bicycle while adding two stabilizing wheels to help support balance.

A tricycle conversion changes the bicycle into a three-wheel configuration and generally represents a more permanent change to the bicycle's riding characteristics.

FATWHEELS provide greater flexibility because they can be used as additional riding support and can later be adjusted or removed if the rider progresses toward independent two-wheel cycling.

Can I remove them once I'm confident riding?

Yes. FATWHEELS are designed so the training wheels can be removed when a rider develops enough balance and confidence to ride independently.

Will they fit through a standard door?

With Small HD FATWHEELS installed, the rear of the bicycle measures approximately 35 inches wide.

Because doorway widths vary, measure the available opening before attempting to move the bicycle through a doorway. Some doors may not provide enough clearance for the bicycle with FATWHEELS installed.

Do Small HD training wheels work on electric bikes? 

FATWHEELS does not generally recommend using its training wheel kits on electric bikes.

Electric bicycles often have different rear-frame designs, drive components, and higher operating speeds than conventional bicycles. FATWHEELS are not designed for higher-speed riding.
