what type of rear axle does the bike HAVE?

Rear Axle Hex Nut

A rear axle hex nut is very common on most bikes equipped with or without a multi-speed shifter or Derailleur.  It can be removed with a common wrench or socket. Rear axle nut must have 3/8" thread.

Quick Disconnect

The quick disconnect lever allows the removal of rear-wheel without the use of tools.  Quick disconnect rear wheels do not use a hex nut to fasten the rear wheel to the bike.

Nexus Shifter

The Nexus shifter comes in both 3 and 7 speeds.  It is not to be confused with a Derailleur.  The Nexus shifter shifts through the center of the rear axle via a cable like a traditional multi-speed bike.

What frame type does your bike HAVE?

A - Shaped Frames

Bicycle frames come in many different shapes and styles.  FATWHEELS kits are best suited for frames where the rear section of the frame is shaped like an "A".  We recommend that our kits be installed only on bikes with an A - shaped frame.

Active Rear Suspension

Bicycle frames come in many configurations. FATWHEELS kits are best suited for frames that do not have a rear suspension system.  We would not recommend you use a FATWHEELS kit on a bike that has a rear shock absorber. If your bike is equipped with a shock as shown, we suggest that the shock be set to the highest setting to firm up the movement.

Folding Bikes

Folding bikes are not a good fit for FATWHEELS kits. The rear part of the frames are more compact and differently shaped than a regular bike. We recommend that our kits not be installed on folding bikes. These frame configurations are shorter than a typical bike and the riders feet will contact our brackets.
